10 years after "Sendepause" it seems to be right reviving my old deviantART account. dA now looks so bold and nice, very inviting. Nice to see, that something happened to the website itself, too! I am curious!

Almost two years after my last journal entry time has come for an update.
In the meantime I sold some of my camera equipment (even the beloved Pentax 67), quit using the Pentax K-5 and returned to Canon. It was a pleasure to work with the K-5. Especially due its advantage of image stabilization through a moving sensor. This concept is way more efficient: old but nevertheless good lenses are cheap and attractive to use. With Canon each lens has its own built-in motor which adds to weight, dimensions and cost.
Though, I had to realize that with using the K-5 the way of taking photos limits me too much. By now I often do photos in low light situations and therefore I'm reliant on good sensors. The 5D Mk2 has a full frame sensor with more than enough pixels (not too tiny and not too large, so noise is acceptable). It also shows up at reasonable prices.
I do remember what I've written about image quality in technical terms in my post from 2013 and so my fridge is packed with films: color negative, slide and black and white film has remained indispensable to me. In 2014 I had the chance to get a Fuji GS645S "Wide 60", a range finder camera. By the end of last year I sold it, because the format is already served through my Pentax 645N, but I really loved to work with it. So I'm leering at the 6x9 wide angle range finders from Fuji.
Furthermore I managed to dig up a film loader for 70mm film: a-hard-to-get-and-hunted-after Alden 70 Bulk Film Loader. It's now possible for me to test those several old films I managed to import from all over the world.
Let's see if and which pictures I will contribute to the community in the future. It's not that I wouldn't want to share anything, but I'm very aware of how many rights I hand over to dA for free. I don't want to spread everything with deviantART, as this basically is a company – and trademark – itself. They get the gold and members views, clicks, favs (which contribute to dA again, a free, kind of self-fulfilling advertisement). True, space for creativity is given to us, but only a very few members may earn their living from it. Photographers these days only have their copyright they can sell and I have the feeling that (big) companies don't value this too much anymore. Take a look at the terms of service, not just here, but everywhere – be aware of your rights and stop neglecting them, because you're to lazy to read!

Hey friends, watchers, vistors and deviants as a whole!
Please excuse my absence in the past weeks and the missing content in this journal here. I've hardly written any replies to messages and faves to photos of mine. Also concerning works of other artists I didn't pay attention to and now I've got a huge pile of photos and drawings and stuff that I really love to take a look at.
Recently I entered the Deutscher Jugendfotopreis (DJF), which is a German photo contest for young photographers and those who want to be one. The winners' photos will be displayed in the Visual Art Gallery 2010, which is part of the photokina (en) / photokina (de) in Cologne, Germany.
